City of Joy

Yesterday, I had 4 tickets to attend the performance at the City of Joy: Gala for the Women in Congo.I have invited I, M and her brother along.

Sam Roddick's (the daughter of the Body Shop founder Anita Roddick) & Tatania Giraud were there to give a very inspirational speech. The readings excerpts from "A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant & A Prayer" were all moving and I am sure they are bound to touch most if not all of the audiences who were present. The live music from Kasai Masai Band Group also did not fail to lighten the mood with some African music and dances. Also, the emcee with her great sense of humour and spontaneity brought the whole event well entertaining, enjoyable and meaningful. It was a well worth 2.5 hours time spent. Most importantly, I reckon the event has successfully create an awareness of the sex violence towards the women in Congo. May God bless and protect these women.
